Ms. Wallis in her role as Vice President of the Parliament has a special responsibility for the Baltic Sea region and gave a keynote speech at the conference: EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region and Future Macro-Regional Strategies.

Ms. Wallis said:

"I want to thank the Swedish Presidency for putting this at the heart of their programme. It has brought into being a strategy born in the European Parliament through the work of a persistent and active group of Parliamentarians. The European Parliament remains anxious and ambitious for results. Parliament ambition is equalled only by its insistence in future involvement."
